Which is more likely to scorch: electric elements or high btu gas set ups AND a discussion on the Picobrew Zymatic — HHH Ep. 057

0

Howdy friends and welcome to another fun filled fantasticly fabulous Friday episode of our Homebrew Happy Hour podcast! Alliteration aside, we hope you’re enjoying your day as we much as we are!

Today’s episode is a Q&A show with James Carlson of CMBecker International! So… it’s basically Joshua reading questions to James and nodding his head in approval! Questions today include “When using a keggle to brew, which do you think is more likely to cause scorching: electric elements or a high BTU gas set up?” and a listener asks a great question which leads to a discussion (er… sales pitch?) from James. Oh, and Joshua complains about Annie Johnson never remembering him in the same breath as calling her “Amy” (insert facepalm.jpg here)… It really is a fun listen!

An interview with Hops & Grain Brewing’s Founder, Josh Hare — HHH Ep. 056

0

Welcome back friends

to another wonderful episode of our Homebrew Happy Hour podcast!

In case you haven’t been listening to any episodes prior to today, we’re located in Central Texas… which means we are in a 50’ish mile radius of some of the most amazing micro and craft breweries that the nation has to offer (this is now the part where folks outside of Texas email Joshua to tell him how wrong he is that Texas has the best craft breweries!). On today’s episode, Joshua drives the 15 or so miles down the road to east Austin to meet up with Josh Hare, the founder and president of Hops & Grain Brewing.

Hops & Grain are not only doing amazing things in the beer world, but they’re also committed to doing amazing things in their local community. In this interview, Josh Hare elaborates on what it means to be a good neighbor; not only in their neighborhood but also to the world! He also discusses his history as a homebrewer and what led to him taking that “next step” many of us dream of as homebrewers!

New Recipes, Using Base Grains, & Moving Up to Bigger Batches! — HHH Ep. 055

0

Sometimes, our best episodes are the ones where we didn’t plan much! To elaborate, we had a last minute switch (*cough* Todd flaked and left Joshua and James to do it by themselves *cough*) but it all worked out great because what was yielded was a fantastic conversation on delicious new homebrew recipes, using base grains and experimenting with your brews, and the logistics of going from small to larger batch brewing AND moving beyond bottling and on to kegging.

It really was a blast recording today’s show and we hope you enjoy it!

Questions on Beer Styles, BJCP Guidelines, and Experiences w/ Homebrew Competitions! HHH — Ep. 054

0

Howdy friends, it’s another episode of our Homebrew Happy Hour!

These last 7 or so days have been rough here in Texas but we definitely appreciate all of the prayers, donations, and volunteers that have come to pitch in towards the relief efforts. This week, our usual co-host, Todd Burns, couldn’t be on the show because he’s volunteering in Rockport BUT we still have a great show for you guys as Joshua and James take your questions on beer styles, BJCP guidelines, and experiences entering your homebrew into local competitions. We think you’re gonna love it!

HUGE NEWS & an Interview with Ladik Joe Ermis from HomebrewSupply.com! — HHH Ep. 053

0

Hello friends! Since the last time we’ve met, a LOT has gone on in the homebrew industry. Specifically, a LOT has gone on between two of the largest independently owned homebrew supply companies!

We’re so excited to announce that Todd Burns of Kegconnection LLC has purchased HomebrewSupply.com! Most of you are already familiar with HBS as they’ve made a huge impact on the online market even in the relatively short amount of time they’ve been around (3’ish years). Their site has always been enviously beautiful, and their customer service has always been exceptional!

For today’s episode, we welcome one of the HBS guys who has been around since their beginning, Ladik Joe Ermis. Joe’s an avid homebrewer and wore a lot of hats during his time at HBS! We think you’re going to really enjoy this interview and hope you stay tuned for more information regarding the relaunch of HomebrewSupply.com!

An interview with UFC fighter and avid homebrewer, Jim Miller! — HHH Ep. 052

0

Friends, have we got an awesome episode of our Homebrew Happy Hour podcast for you today with our special guest, Jim Miller!

For those who don’t know him by name, Jim is a professional mixed martial artist currently fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship in their lightweight (155lb) division. Jim has fought pretty much every person who matters in the division (beating the bulk of them too!) and holds the current record for number of wins in that division. His fighting resume truly is impressive.

What’s even more impressive, to us, is his passion for homebrewing. Jim’s been at it a while and in this episode we dive into his history as a homebrewer, his favorite styles to brew, his favorite styles to drink, and what the future post-UFC might look like if he took his brewing to the professional level.
